Making neurology simple for paediatricians is no simple task. It was indeed made so by a group of passionate teachers who participated in the workshop called Neurology Simplified 2023, conducted as a hybrid event at Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute to facilitate participation of delegates from all over the world. The workshop, conducted over a 4 week period to warm the participants up and to the higher standards of the final theme-based content, was held on the 7^th and 8^th of January 2023. Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Vasant Khalatkar, Chairperson of the Academy of Paediatric Neurology, said that such programs are the need of the hour given the explosion of innovative therapies in the field in the recent years and the lack of knowledge about them among paediatricians. He added that he envisions imparting education of the highest standards to fellow Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)ians and commended the efforts of the organisers, Prof. K. N. Vykunta Raju, President of Indian Academy of Paediatrics’ Neurology Chapter of Karnataka and Professor of Paediatric Neurology at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and Dr. Lakshmi Balaji from Sydney. Delivering a didactic lecture on “spotters,” Dr. Vykunta Raju shared some useful tips on deriving information from pictures and videos sent through social media platforms in the present day to approach diagnoses. The workshop also included management of emergencies, judicious use and interpretation of neuroinvestigations such as electroencephalogram, imaging and genetics, and also a very useful guide to the important procedural skill in neurology – the lumbar puncture. A interesting and informative talk on neuroinfections by Dr. Bhaskar Shenoy was highly appreciated as comprehensive, timely, and audience-friendly by several delegates from resource poor nations of the world. The residents of Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore, presented a variety of short and long cases which were discussed by a group of expert panellists providing useful clinical tips for exams. An often ignored and underpractised soft skill, communication, also received a special place in the workshop, alongside updates in paediatric neurology. Several delegates presented their research on the platform. Attended by nearly 500 delegates from across the globe and endorsed by International Child Neurology Association and Indian Academy of Neurology (IAP), the program was commended by participants for its quality content, incorporation of a wide range of topics and delivery in a graded, interactive manner reaching a wide range of audience. The bonuses included 4 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits awarded by Karnataka Medical Council and a neuro tool kit including neurology equipment and pocket charts for daily bedside use.
